In 1993, with the release of their debut album 'Reachin' (A New Refutation Of Time And Space), the Digable Planets 'resurrected the funk', by presenting the smooth sounds of jazz, together with the lyrical aspect of hip hop. This sound is represented in their first single 'Rebirth of Slick (Cool Like Dat). The song which uses live musicians, ended up being one of the most requested videos on MTV in 1993.
